Star Trek: Next Generation

 Tuesday, October 26, 2010

Since I have been doing both book and movie reviews I thought I should do some about shows I have watched. I love Star Trek!! Yes I'm a Trekie! lol :P Although the newest Star Trek movie did not give Star Trek justice. Really the only Star Trek show I like is the Next Generation (NG). This series has so much story, action, and suspense that it truly makes this show amazing. The character development is written very well. It's really interesting following characters like Data, who is a robot trying to be more human, and Wesley, who goes back and forth to the academy. The acting in the first 3 seasons is not the best but seasons 4-7 acting is like watching a movie! Also I like how the Star Trek: NG movies go with the show. My favorite characters are Captain Picard, Data, Wesley, and Dr. Crusher. I have watched all seven years that this show has aired and it is definitely one of the best shows there are. I'm not saying; however, that Star Trek: Next Generation is perfect. Season 3(I believe) is the one with the most 'stuff' in it. Like every TV show there are episodes that you can't watch. Also I don't like the episodes with Q because I believe some of the things they say, and such, is sacrilegious. Other than these downers I would totally recommend this series, to certain people.

Thank you brother for helping me write this. You're such a blessing to me!

Signs

 Monday, October 25, 2010

Recently I was able to have a friend over and we watched the movie Signs. She was spending the night because her dad was in the hospital from falling thirty feet out of a tree. Luckily he did not break one bone. The only thing that sustained a lot of damage was his spleen that ruptured. God had his hand on him! Now to the movie review! I have watched this movie more times than I can count, not joking! This is a suspense thriller but for some reason I think it is considered a horror film. I do not watch horror movies. Signs is about a family that has gone through something traumatic(I won't tell you what. ;)) and their weird habits, sickness, and records all come into play at the end. Mel Gibson plays the father, who 'was' also a pastor. From the traumatic event he loses his faith and no longer believes in God, but at the end of this movie he finds his faith and learns that nothing is luck but everything has a purpose. This is just the back plot though. One thing I have to tell you is that there are aliens in this movie, it is centered around that. Don't be weirded out by that and think it will just be stupid, because it isn't. I hate getting to this part....time for what was not good. There are no bad 'scenes' and there is very little cursing. One part I always fast forward is when the dad goes into the drug store. You will not miss anything by fast forwarding the entire time he is there. All that happens is the girl tells him everything. You can definitely watch this with your family but you might not want a young child getting too scared.

Also I hope you like my new blog template(background). My friend Dani helped me out with it. You can see her blog from the link on the side. Check it out!

The Incredible Hulk

 Friday, October 22, 2010

I really liked this movie, surprisingly enough. At first I didn't like the person they picked to play Hulk but before long I liked this person better than the one in the original. This movie had a lot of story throughout it compared to actual fighting scenes. I'm glad that they had a lot of story, which movies seem to be lacking here lately, but I do wish they had one or two more battles. Through the beginning and middle of this movie you learn how Bruce had to live with this 'thing' building up in him every time his blood rate rose. You find out when his blood rate is rising to high from a heart monitor he wears on his wrist. Through this movie it will give you an update on how long it has been since he last turned into the Hulk. I found that to be cool. Also he seems to have no control over the Hulk and only at the end do you see him be able to control it, mostly. For some reason I just really liked this movie! lol Although there was some things in it. At the beginning, when Bruce is running from the police, he climbs down a ladder and goes into this girls room he knows. Although when he first goes in she holds a bathrobe to cover herself. Also when he takes a shower it shows too much. I don't know how much because I closed my eyes. lol When both Bruce and his girlfriend go to bed, in separate rooms, you see her in a bra thing. One more thing, Bruce and his girlfriend have a bad part but it soon ends. I don't want all this to deter you from watching it, because it is very easy to avoid these things. Also this has very little cursing. I do believe it takes God's name in a very bad way, but I didn't hear it. I gave this movie a 4 1/2 stars out of 5.

Btw I added a song to my post Favorite Music. Check it out!

Corn Maze

 Monday, October 18, 2010

I had so much fun at a corn maze I went to! I have no sense of direction though! My brother and a couple of my friends made a group...they were the first ones to get out. I, on the other hand, didn't make it through the corn maze. My friend and I were together but we were just going in circles so we decided to split up...that did not help at all! lol I ended up completely on the other side! Deciding just to quite and go through the corn, without a path, I did make it out. Although I was itching like crazy! When I had made it to civilizational I decided to go back in and try and find my friend. After screaming her name for a while she finally met up with me. We were so relieved to see each other that we gave one another a hug. :) I'm so glad that my mother put on the event! If you can go to a corn maze this fall, I suggest you do. :D Although some people didn't have as good a time as others. Just depends on you. Most of these pics I have up for this post are edited by my brother. :D Have a blessed fall readers!!!

"To Kill a Mockingbird"

 Friday, October 8, 2010

Another review! :D lol Anyway this book is very well written. It puts you in the book, as if you were in a daze. Although some parts were dull, but it didn't feel as if you were literally straining to keep reading. Also this book did have the case, of which To Kill a Mockingbird is most known for, but surprisingly it was not totally centered around that. Mostly it was about their childhood and the Radley place. The case finally came in to play around 220 pages through it. Before the case started it had quite a bit of how Jem and Scout had to cope with the things people said and the hateful words toward their father. Also To Kill a Mockingbird had a character that the movie did not include, Dill, who was very much apart of the story. After reading this book I wondered how the children could stand living in that town after they knew the true content of these people's hearts. Now that I made that sound so cool I have to inform you of some downers. The cursing was ever so often but sometimes the words were up there on the list of extreme ones. Twice it took God's name in vain in a very bad way, not the normal one that you unfortunately are exposed to quite often. Other than the cursing and saying the bad word for African American's, way too often, this book didn't have any other disagreeable stuff. I would recommend this book and also I wouldn't really enforce people to read it. I enjoyed this book, although I know people like more of suspense and drama than this offers.

Determination

 Saturday, October 2, 2010

Well recently I have had no determination to get my school done. Basically I have become lazy... ha ha! lol At the beginning of the school year I was definitely more driven to do my school...for some reason it has completely gone away. With my math, that is. Recently I've just let myself feel defeated before I even start. I definitely have to start praying for strength and the mind to learn. Have you ever just shut yourself down to learning right when you have to do it. That's me. Although during this episode of brain-shutdown, I have been working on my Sign Language. :D If you don't work on it you will forget what you learned! I went through some work sheets and should have known all the words. Unfortunately I was slacking. This pushed me to go through some papers, pick up my Sign Language dictionary, and listen to songs and write down the words I didn't know so I could look them up. If only I had that determination for math...lol! Writing this blog post actually makes me feel a bit more driven to do the school that I have been slacking in. :)

Philippians 2:14 "Do all things without complaining and disputing that you may become blameless and harmless children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and a perverse generation among whom you shine as lights in the world."
