"Downton Abbey"

 Tuesday, May 22, 2012

After watching the second to last episode of season two, for Downton Abbey, I was hooked! I just love this show for some reason! Some characters I love, hate, and am thoroughly amused by. Recently I just finished season one. Yes, I watched season two then the first season. :) Actually it didn't really ruin anything. :D I have to give a word of caution though, there is some "adult" content. :P Mostly in the form of couples kissing. In season two there is less of that, at least from what I can remember. Unfortunately in season one they had a "gay" scene! I was shocked and totally caught off guard! I believe it only shows them kiss. When it first happened I fumbled for the remote and it would not work! Every time I fast forwarded and pushed play it would stop right at the kiss. I was grossed out and honestly considered not watching it anymore. Though I do love this series.

Downton Abbey is about the Crawley family during the early 20th century. Their lives revolve around getting Mary, the eldest daughter, an eligible suitor and petty things like this consume their lives. Sister rivalry also takes part and is quite shocking to see what people will do to one another.  Not only do you view the lives of the "rich and famous" but also what the lives are like below, among the servants. Their desires, wants, and ambitions. All this takes place in England during a very important time in the world's history. Lives will be lost, wars won, but family and the ones around you make up your memories...

The head lady! I love her quick and witty remarks. She's strong and ready to take action, and certainly won't be pushed aside.

The dresses are gorgeous! Left: Lady Edith, who is kind of the odd one out among the sisters and is basically forgotten by everyone. Middle: Lady Sybil is a strong willed girl and is for women's rights! Also she doesn't care what everyone else thinks and does not have a hunger for money. Right: Lady Mary, who is decidedly fixed on making her fortune by marriage. Despite her hard outer layer there is a kinder soul beneath. One moment you'll think "what an atrocious women!" and the next you'll love her.

And here is the main guy, a little hero in his own respects. Matthew Crawley, destined to inherit Downton Abbey! Honor and virtue hold him true to his word and he is always a gentlemen.

Anyway I just thought I would introduce you to some characters. :)

I know that was a very short review of two seasons of a show but honestly you just have to watch it for yourself.  Several characters that I liked in season one I don't like in season two, and vise versa. Did I mention that the fashion is impeccable! From every hat pin to the very shoes, I love it all!

Star Trek: Next Generation

 Tuesday, October 26, 2010

Since I have been doing both book and movie reviews I thought I should do some about shows I have watched. I love Star Trek!! Yes I'm a Trekie! lol :P Although the newest Star Trek movie did not give Star Trek justice. Really the only Star Trek show I like is the Next Generation (NG). This series has so much story, action, and suspense that it truly makes this show amazing. The character development is written very well. It's really interesting following characters like Data, who is a robot trying to be more human, and Wesley, who goes back and forth to the academy. The acting in the first 3 seasons is not the best but seasons 4-7 acting is like watching a movie! Also I like how the Star Trek: NG movies go with the show. My favorite characters are Captain Picard, Data, Wesley, and Dr. Crusher. I have watched all seven years that this show has aired and it is definitely one of the best shows there are. I'm not saying; however, that Star Trek: Next Generation is perfect. Season 3(I believe) is the one with the most 'stuff' in it. Like every TV show there are episodes that you can't watch. Also I don't like the episodes with Q because I believe some of the things they say, and such, is sacrilegious. Other than these downers I would totally recommend this series, to certain people.

Thank you brother for helping me write this. You're such a blessing to me!

Sucked In!

 Tuesday, June 1, 2010

I have been getting sucked into books and shows! When I was reading The Count of Monte Cristo the other day I was so sucked in that I could have acted it out with the tears and all! It was the part where Mercedes was pleading with the Count. I felt like I could feel her anguish! I'm not really over exaggerating what I felt. lol :P I guess that is what happens to true bookworms. ;) Anyway I love getting that into it! If only I could get that into my math. :P I've been watching a lot of Star Trek: Next Generations and here recently they are really sad ones. The other day I was watching one about the Borg. This Borg was all alone and when he came on the Enterprise, he came out of being brain washed. The Borgs are humans that get taken over and become, basically, walking computers. Once you become a Borg there is no way that you can become human again, because of all the circuits in your body. It was so sad because for all this time you hate the Borgs because they kill people and they aren't really people anymore. Once you saw this Borg become more human you felt sry for him. In the end he went back to the Borg ship because he didn't want his new-found friends to be taken over. Well I think I got way too into that one. lol For the past week I haven't really had anyone to talk to. My brother had something that took away his voice. He didn't fully recover his voice until yesterday. So I didn't really get to have a buddy for a couple of days. Although I did get to play with him some. He doesn't have the best immune system. Although he is constantly bouncing off the walls with energy. During these days of him losing his voice I was able to talk to someone...God. :) You can never be lonely with Him! :D

TrueU

 Friday, April 30, 2010

Well I have recently finished the TrueU. I do recommend it. Although I don't like to learn about other peoples beliefs and what evolutionist think, it was good to learn about how it's not working. The chances. The facts. What's actually going on. Also I recommend you do it in a group. It was great to hear what people had to say and learn about things that other people are having to deal with. Iron sharpens iron. Before this I didn't know, or had an idea, on how strongly and horribly people are pushing these insain ideas. I knew the world was going down hill, but after this you'll see even more. The lessons that I thoroughly enjoyed were the morality ones. I'm not much of a science person and can't get it around my head but I could understand that(without getting a headache.) Let's just say that science isn't my subject. Definitely do this in a group. Also sit in a circle, it tends to help everyone talk. My brother found out that the next project is going to come out early this fall. During the meantime we might start a group with the videos The Master's Way. Also I recommend those. The Truth Project was about what you will encounter in college, the Master's Way is about what you'll encounter on the street.
